Mass Mailer – VBMania/”Here you have” Virus

A new mass mailer virus began propagating on Thursday (9/9).  When a machine is infected, the virus sends itself to contacts within the email address book. According to McAfee’s Avert Labs, it can also spread through “accessible remote machines, mapped drives, and removable media.”

Email messages are sent with the subject “Here you have” or “Just For you”. Other variants may exist, however. The body of the email contains a link that appears to be a PDF document, but it is actually an executable. Once the file is downloaded and executed, the virus installs itself as CSRSS.exe in the Windows directory.

Major anti-virus vendors already detect this threat and block it, including McAfee and Symantec.
